August -03 2015 Monday Ganga sagar

At 12.50PM Saturday we catch train CAPE HOWRAH EXP  at Madurai station.
We reach Howrah station at 3.20 AM Aug-3rd early morning.from that we book a prepaid taxi at Esplanade bus stand. We reach the bus stand 4.00 Am. At 5.00 AM first bus start upto Kakdwip village. The bus reaches Diamond Harbor at 7.00 AM . That time all over west Bengal full of rainy season and some places with flood. From Diamond Harbor to Kakdwip village 30 km full of heavy rain.

Before 3km to Kakdwip village, the bus driver drop us a place called Lot no 8 junction point. From that place we catch another bus to reach Lot No. 8 / Harwood Point, which is 80km from Kolkata and 6 km from Kakdwip village. That place is a ferry point to cross the back sea water of gangas ( Muriganga river).

Alternatively, you can take a bus to Namkhana from Kolkata to Namkhana (105) kms. From Namkhana you can reach to Chemaguri across the river Muriganga by launch and from Chamaguri to Gangasagar by bus (10kms.) Boats from Harwood Point and Kachuberia are accessible every hour.
The cost for a person is 10/- and the boat have a capacity of over 400-500 peoples.

If the water level is sufficient the boat will move. Otherwise we have to wait. We reach the ferry point at 9.00 am. We cross the river at 10.00 am. It takes around 1 hr. The other end is Kachuberia. From that place buses, autos available upto Kapil muni ashram (30 km) (Ganga sagar)

We take an auto at Kachuberia and we crossed lots of villages on the way. At last we reached ganga sagar bus stand. We book a room at Bharat Sevasram Sangha. Double bed room at 250/- donation. The room have a bad smell. They advised to buy a mosquito matt for night stay. Put our luggage and take a rickshaw to reach Ganga sagar beach where the Gangas mingle with Bay of bangal sea. Some of other Ashrams..

  •

  • Vastra Vyasavi Seva Samity Dharamsala, Ganga Sagar, Road No. 1, 24 Parganas (near the Ganga Sagar bus stand). This is also a very good place to stay and eat. Rooms are neat and spacious and the complex also has a beautiful temple. Based on donations.
  • Larica Sagar Tourist Lodge.

We took bath at the sea. The content of salt is less and the color of sea also like river water color. Big Ships, Boats are moving over the sea. Opposite to the Beach Kapil muni Ashram is there. We Darshan the kapil muni temple. Return to our room and take breakfast at 2.00 PM at our room. We decided to return Kolkata. We catch a tempo and reach Kachuberia at 4.00 PM evening. We reach the ferry point. Due to low level of water ferry service is stopped upto 8.00 pm.

We waiting for four hours at ferry point. But boats came from other side to this side. Local says that water flows from north to south. That means the water flow takes the boat and reaches our end. But from here it is opposite direction of water flow. After 7.00 pm the water flow direction changes from south to north. What an amazing.. it is really thrilling experience. At 8.00 PM our boat starts and reach the lot no-8 around 9.00 PM. From that we pick a tricycle and goes to Kakdwip railway station. The last train leaves at 9.00 pm. So we missed the train. One tempo ask me to drop at kolkata at 700/- rs. But no urgent for us. So we stayed at railway station ticket counter.
