Kamtaul to Sitamarhi is about 55 kms. Passenger train comes from Darbhanga to sitamarhi comes on Kamtaul We reach the sitamarhi railway st at around 2.00 pm. We ask the railway guard for clock room. But no clock room facility available there.

Opposite to railway station we request a hotel to keep our luggage. At the small hotel we finishes our breakfast at 3.00 pm.

• Janki Mandir – the birth place of Sitadevi. This is located in the bazaar about 3 kms from railway station
• Punaura daham- also considered as the brith place of sitadevi- on the way to Pant Pakar
• Panth Pakar- where Sita Ramar on her journey to Ayodhya stayed for a night –between Janakpur and Sitamarhi.

Sitamarhi is a big city.We take auto and reach Punaura daham. Behind the temple a pond, sita kund is available.

Local priest says from the sita kund, sitama born. From there we darshan Janki Mandir. We can’t go to pant pakar. Night we take some fruits and stayed the railway station.

THE HOLY BANYAN TREE

A Pakar tree has spread around a vast area in an astonishing manner.

There are several trees of the same breed which are connected and sprouted through the roots as well as the branches which get detached eventually. The myth of this place goes as that after getting married to Ram Sita and Sri Ram rested here as they returned for the fortnightly ritual.

On the way to Sitamarhi, one can visited Pant Pakar. This is not exactly in the main route. One needs to take a diversion and travel for about 2 kms to reach Panth Pakar.

The place where Sita devi’s palanquin (“doli”) alighted under a banyan tree is marked by a hound covered with red cloth and pooja is performed. Beside this , a small vigraham of Sita-Ramar is kept.

Exactly one month after Sri Rama navami, Seetha Navami is celebrated. Throughout Janakpur and Sitamarhi, this festival is celebrated for 10 days culminating in Sita Navami in the Tamil month of Vaigasi (May-June).

Frequent disconnection of current at the city including railway station is usual. Our train SADBHAVNA EXP Night at 2.00 PM comes two hrs late.
